Paleo Challenge Day 18: Calorie Counting

Wednesday January 18, 2012 ā€“ Day 18

Lunch: chicken fajita salad from Moe’s
Snack: cajun-spiced chicken breast
Dinner: tamarind pork loin, jicama slaw, sweet potato
Midnight snack: scrambled eggs with jalapeno and onion
Future baby chickens consumed: 2 (70 total)

Sweet potatoes consumed: 0.5 (15.5 total)
Inhaler puffs: 0 (2 in last 7 days)

I know. I know. Cavemen didn’t count calories. They ate what was available, replenished their bodies relative to the amount of work they did, and stopped f***ing worrying. But I’m analytical. Obsessively so. And as a result, I’ve been curious as to how many calories I’ve actually been eating these past few days, so here’s a tally of my past 72 hours of meals. Turns out I’m eating even fewer calories than I thought I was. It’s not like I starve myself :( My protein intake is about adequate for my needs (the average recommendation is 1g per pound of lean body mass). Carbs are probably good, I’d like to keep them under 100g/day on average (though 150 or more would be *fine* on a weightlifting day). So, like I thought, it’s time to load up on good fats.
